Trick-or-Treat!

Happy Halloween! Although he doesn't really know what candy is, Brady got the concept of trick-or-treating this year. I think it helped that he had his older friends, the Cassadas, to model for him. We all went to the first couple houses together. After that, I came back home to hand out candy while Brady, Daddy, and the Cassadas continued to gather some loot. I conducted my own version of the gestational diabetes (GD) test and overloaded on sugar this evening. (I actually did have the test on Thursday and was borderline. But really, what was I thinking, scheduling the GD test a few days before Halloween? eesh!)

Nap Time

This afternoon Brady put all his stuffed animals in the tent Mimi got for him (that is currently in our family room) and then asked for a blanket. It was close to nap time and I reminded him of that. He replied, "I sleep here. Animals, blanket, tent." If only that were true, I would have let him. He looked adorable so I took a quick picture...but he had a nice 2 hour+ nap upstairs in his bed- with his usual bed buddies- Elephant, Spot Doggie, and Ratatouille.

Fish Food

Uncle Murali is in town and we met up for dinner at Coastal Flats tonight. Brady loved all the colorful fish art around the restaurant and had some nice conversations with the hostess. He feeds himself pretty well now (using either his hands, as he did with his fish sticks or a utensil, as he did for his cauliflower mash). It's nice that all of us are able to enjoy dinner together!

More Fall Fun, More Barn Business

Yup, this is the third time we've been to Clyde's in five days. When we were there on Wednesday, we saw a sign advertising their Fall Festival. When we were there on Friday, we got a private preview. Also Brady kept asking "Show Daddy barn?" so we visited again this afternoon. We saw some animals this time (and Brady actually pet a few). The animals were brought in, as the barn space is just for growing herbs and some vegetables for the restaurant.

We got to see the bees from the beehive, the plants up close, and the inside of the barn. Brady ran around, jumped (of course), and then chatted it up with a new friend.

"Hang Out With Daddy"

Brett and Brady often take a walk to the Dunkin' Donuts down the street so Brett can get coffee on weekend mornings. Their guy time usually begins with a conversation about their plans.
Brett: "Brady, where are we going?"
Brady: "Dunkin' Donut! Daddy get coffee!"
Brett: "What do you do at Dunkin Donuts?"
Brady: "Hang out with Daddy!"

It's very cute. Here's the two of them beforehand. I couldn't decide which picture I liked better.

Today I walked with them. First we attempted a family self portrait.
Brady was giddy walking through the leaves. Fall is so fun!

Afterward, Brett raked leaves at Brady's insistence...at least he was a willing helper! :)

Air & Scare

It's been a crazy, but super fun festive day! After nap, we went to the Udvar-Hazy Air and Space Museum for Air & Scare. We met up with the Verebs. Brady loved seeing the airplanes...Eli loved the Halloween stations- face painting, story time, craft making...And the mommies enjoyed some sporadic conversation and chocolate from the trick-or-treat stations. Brady wore his crocodile costume most of the time. We're surprised at how much he likes this thing. When he's not wearing it, he plays with it like a stuffed animal. He insisted on keeping it on even though he was sweating inside the museum. It'll be perfect next week (when we are outside) for Halloween.

Here are the mommies and baby bellies. Sharon is about 4 weeks behind me in pregnancy, but she's having two girls instead of one. :) How fun that the Littlest Luhring will have twin girlfriends that are her age!

Animal Park and Pumpkinville

Despite the windy drizzly weather, we joined my co-workers at the Leesburg Animal Park for a Booz Allen-sponsored family event. We saw lots of animals and even got to walk among them in the "contact area." Too bad Brady is more of a look-but-do-not-touch kid when it comes to the furry friends these days.

Then he and Daddy got to jump around in a bouncy house. I think we could have stayed there All day and Brady would have been fine with it. We finally had to coax him out so that we could see other things.

Brady and I went down a giant slide together. Brady happily giggled the whole way down. It was a little slick though and (while holding Brady) when I stood up to get off, we fell right back down. This scared all of us- Brady, Brett, and me! I think I bruised my tailbone, and we were worried about how the Littlest Luhring would react to the fall. She reassured me that she was fine about 20 minutes later when I felt her moving around again. Brady kept reminding us though (as if I could forget given my achy self). He kept saying, "Mommy fall down" and pointing at the slide.

He bounced back and was loving slides again as he got to go down the air-filled ones with Daddy. Following his insistence ("I do self!" We hear that ALOT from our independent toddler these days), Daddy even let him go down solo- whoohoo!

The boys played with the Talking Tubes and that got some giggles. Here's video of that and the jumpers:

Then we picked pumpkins. We got four this year to represent each of us in our growing family. I wanted to find a gourd that had a bump on it to represent me and LL. But Brett said that was weird. ha! :) We also looked at some more hu-MUM-gus flowers.

Brady is about 1/2 the size of Daddy these days. How do we know? They stood next to the Pumpkinville Measuring Stick to size up.

The Barn

For some reason, Brady really likes barns these days. He seeks out his books that have barns in them and got very excited when there was a barn on Blue's Clues the other day. The barn seems to be the default place where unseen things go. For example, he asked me "Mommy, cow go in the barn?" when he couldn't find his Chik-Fil-A cow. The other day after he saw our neighbors go in their house he asked me, "Mommy, where Joshua and Bekah go?" I said, "Brady, you just saw them. You tell me- where did they go?" He replied, "Oh. Went in barn." What? ;p

So today we walked up to the barn behind Clyde's restaurant. Brady was SO excited to see the barn and had a great time running all over the place. It made for a great FavDay morning and an awesome afternoon nap! :)
