Strawberry Fields Forever...

...or until Memorial Day this year!  :p  We went strawberry picking at the farm today.  It wasn't as abundant as in years past.  Perhaps b/c of the warm weather this year the peak of the season was earlier.  Instead of the usual 10 lbs. or so we've brought home in previous years, we only picked about 1 lb. this year.
She's ready (and darn cute)!
 Going in...

Grandma and Papa met us there...even with 6 "farm hands," we just didn't take home many this year.  (Although Grandma says she probably ate about a pound's worth- awesome!)  :)

Hot and exhausted strawberry pickers!

Happy Memorial Day 2012!

Love that it worked out that their red/white/blue shirts had complementary sayings on them!
Sylvie's says, "Daddy thinks I'm awesome" / Brady's says, "Mom's Pride and Joy"  :)

Happy Campers

The Ehlerts invited us to go camping at Lake Fairfax this weekend.  It was a first for all of us...I've never camped in a tent either!  The kids were SO excited about.  Thanks to our neighbors who let us borrow an awesome 6-person tent, lanterns, and sleeping mats and the Ehlert families who totally knew what they were doing, we were happy campers!  We had a fantastic time, but I really didn't take many pictures.  :(  It was hot and sticky when we arrived...hence Sylvie's wet hair in these picts.  :p
S'mores (or rather just plain roasted marshmallows for her- YUMM!)
The camping-extraordinaire Ehlert families thought of everything including glowstick necklaces and sparklers at night and an IHOP-like breakfast of omelets and pancakes in the morning...the kids were very pleased!!!

Dan took some picts on Sunday morning, stating that he liked going for the "authentic" (read: we haven't showered) look.  lol!  (I'll insert these picts when Dan sends them to me!)  :)

DIY Preparation

I was busy doing something and the kids didn't want to wait for me to help them put their shoes on when they wanted to go outside today.  I thought they'd just put on flip flops or crocs (b/c w/o laces or anything, they can each put these shoes on themselves).  I laughed out loud when I walked outside to find Brady golfing in rain boots and shorts and laughed harder when I saw that Sylvie had followed suit.  (Rain boots are the easiest for them to put on themselves...and actually it worked out b/c the grass was a little soggy.)  I'm sitting on the porch and Sylvie walks by me headed for the door.  I say, "Where are you going?"  She replies, "I need some-ting" without stopping.  She comes out like this (with Brady's winter hat on) and goes, "Bway-dee!  I ready to play baseball!  I got my hew-met on!"  I about died laughing and then laughed harder when I realized she could pull this off!  Cutie-cake!

Picture Day x2

It was picture day at Sylvie's daycare today.  We had Brady sit in for a few picts with her.  I think the photographer got some cute shots of them...we'll see!  Here's a few we took before we left-
 She's nutty- here's proof.  :p

And apparently cookoo is contagious...
he's got it now too!

Take Me Out to the Ballgame

We finally got to meet BP (Brian Paull), Brett's friend from grad school, his wife Heather, and their son Ashton today.  We met up for a Potomac Nationals (minor league) game.
Taking his two to the concession stand-
(Heather thought this was hilarious!)

Doesn't she look like a classy lassie with my clip in her hair?
(It was hot and the rubber band I had in her hair broke.)

Here's the opposite of the classy clip look...
Girl does love her some popcorn!
Seventh-inning stretch (and the chicken dance) were a hit with Sylvie, who was a total trooper.  She was beyond exhausted b/c the game was during her nap time.  Brady liked this pitching game...and of course, he was good at it!
It was a special kids day at the park so they allowed the kids to run the bases after the game (but we missed that b/c we were playing games).  We did get to hang out and have a catch in the outfield. Brady had a catch with his daddy and Sylvie had a catch with her new pal Ashton. (Ashton had this cute crab "mitt" and sticky ball set to share.)
The south paw wind-up and fielding the ball
After the game, we went over to the BMX bike track to watch some kids riding- pretty cool!
Ashton and Sylvie were adorable together- laughing, running, laughing, sitting, laughing, picking flowers.  :)

Cropped Cutie

Sylvie looked so cute today in her cropped pants that I wanted a picture.  Here are the results of the various ways I tried to get her to agree to a pict-
"Mono can be in the picture!"
"Is that Dora on your shirt? I can't see her."
"Where's Dora? Oh, right there. Thanks."
