What do you see?

Sylvie brings this home from Ms. Omayma's today and I read it and ask her about it.
"So Sylvie, this says What do you see?  What am I seeing here?"
"I drawed our family!  See?  Dare's you and Daddy with a wainbow on top of his head."
"Oh, cool.  Where are you?"
"I'm in your tummy.  I didn't come out yet."  (We were recently looking at old pictures and she asked, "where am I?" and I told her, "you're still in my tummy in this picture.)
"Oh, that's cool too.  But you said this is our family.  Where's Brady then?"
She didn't skip a beat and immediately replied, "He's in Daddy's tummy.  He didn't come out yet." :p

Syvlie's School Visit

So Sylvie's been "visiting" Open Arms since she was 8 months old and we enrolled Brady.  We've often joked around and said she would run this school b/c she's so comfortable in all the classrooms playing (and being around all her "older siblings;" Brady's friends) while I chatted with my friends (the other parents and the teachers).  Well, we had an official visit today in Sylvie's new classroom.  She starts with Ms. Tina and Ms. Ashley (who were also Brady's teachers) on Monday.  When in Rome...sister insisted on wearing her jammies today too. (boo for phone picts!)  She was awesome!  I don't think she even needed this transition activity, but we all know that this change-resistant mama needed it!  She walked right in the classroom, hugs me, and goes, "bye Mommy!"  (Not two minutes earlier, Brady was clinging to my leg as we dropped him off in his classroom.)  I had to stay with Sylvie though since she's not yet enrolled.  But I tried to keep my distance and let her be and just supervised one of the center activities.  At one point she said to Ashley, "When my mom gonna go home?" HA!

We went to chapel (you know, b/c during Loser-In-Schools Week, the kids go every day).  Sylvie was So excited to see her big bro in school while she was with "her" class.  It was cute to watch her in chapel as she tried to sing along and do the signs.  (She's familiar with the songs b/c Brady sings them all the time.)  She just blended right in with the others. {Special thanks to Kristen, Colin's mom, who introduced Sylvie and Clara at the school's spirit night at Chik-Fil-A on Tuesday.  Having both Colin and Clara as her buds will make this even easier for Sylvie!}  At one point she did turn to Ms. Ashley and say, "What is he even talking about?!"  Yes, Sylvie I agree that the pastor should have brought the message to the level of his 5-and-under crowd!!  ;p

She was right there with her classmates having snack and praying. (In fact, she's probably known the "God Our Father" prayer longer than most of them! ha!

Twins

Well, Mason and Caden aren't the Only twins in the Hicks family today!  It's pajama day during Lutheran Schools Week.  Imagine all of our (Brady's, Colton's, and my) delight when we walked in the classroom and realized that Brady and Colton were wearing the same pjs!  Melissa and I could not have planned this better if we tried!  SO awesome!

Loser-In-Schools Week

Brady was telling me about this week (Lutheran Schools Week) this morning and with his slightly confused interpretation of what he thinks he's heard, this is what it sounded like he said, "Mommy, did you know that during Loser-in-Schools Week, we get to go to chapel Every day???" I'm pretty sure I snorted laughing before kissing his sweet five-year-old face.

Gym Class Heroes

Camera batteries are charged this week, so I was able to take a few picts through the gym's window.

epic

Snapshot to remind me of the epic battle of parents vs. Sylvie today as we tried to leave for Brady's first basketball practice.  Today it was over the ever-important topic of socks.  She insisted that the socks I chose were Brady's (and they were...a pair he outgrew before he wore them, but beige and matched her sweater).  Totally her size, but she refused to wear them and freaked out.  The boys left without us and our stand-off continued. Girl, it's going to be Crazy Town here in about ten years. Your one saving grace right now is that you're so stinkin' cute...even when you do have mad stubborn face on!

Snow Delay

We picked Colton up from school last night and had an unplanned sleepover.  It was fantastic- happy kids played all by themselves and Brett and I got to talk to each other (and actually hear each other). ha!  After a fun friend night and sleepover, it was a real treat to wake up to snow!  {I had no idea it was supposed to snow!}  Schools and the federal government were on a two-hour delay, so we played outside a bit this morning and then warmed up with hot cocoa before going off to school!

Gymnastics

I signed Sylvie and Brady up for this gymnastics class offered through the county's parks and rec program.  I thought it would be fun b/c they could take the class together.  The class description stated that it is for 3-5 year olds; so  thought it would be perfect since they both just turned those ages!  Yeah, not so much. :p  Tonight was the first class.  The parents weren't allowed to stay so I only got one picture (and Sylvie is covered by Brady- ha!).  Anyway, the class is pretty elementary.  It might be okay for Sylvie, but it's way beyond Brady.  Oh well, at least it's something for them to do together for the next four weeks! :)

Twirl and Tap...with Emma!

Emma, one of Sylvie's bff's from Ms. Omayma's daycare, joined her Twirl and Tap class.  I'm pretty sure the world cannot get any better for Sylvie!  Violet, Emma, and Sylvie...cutest little trio!

Running Romey

She just looked so cute in her dance clothes running Romey around the yard.

Take Your Daughter To Work Day

MLK Day = Take Your Daughter To Work Day at our house b/c Sylvie's daycare is closed today but Booz Allen is not. She really is a great office mate- quiet, does her work, and adheres to my home office dress code (yeah we take "business casual" to a whole new level here...it's called jammies!)
Yup, and this, my sweet daughter, is how we do "business lunch" in Mommy's world...eating a sandwich at your desk.  Of course when lunch is "chocolate (Nutella) sandwiches" you won't hear any complaints from us!!

Neighborly

Today was totally awesome!  We Love our neighborhood.  Today Brady, Bella, and Sylvie were playing inside.  I wanted them to go outside b/c it's unexpectedly nice out again today.  I was outside letting Romey go potty and I hear, "Hi Ms. Tiffany!!!" and it's Kristen and Allie riding by our house {from theirs which is just about 6 houses up the street}.  That lured our crew out and we All went for a ride (granted, it was like 1/4 mile- lol, but it was So fun to have this caravan of kids)!  Love it!  Then they played some basketball and then had a "busride" with the cardboard boxes.  It made me happy- good old impromptu play time like we used to have when we were little, instead of a scheduled playdate.  LOVE!  I also loved sitting in the driveway with Jenn chatting.  It made me a little nostalgic for 21520.  One of my favorite things to do was to sit and talk with Courtney and Laura while our kids played together.  We have been (and again are) truly blessed with Amazing neighbors who are Awesome friends!

Playing with the Pauleys

We took advantage of the beautiful 50-degree temps today and walked up to our elementary school to play with the Pauleys.  Thank goodness Kristin captured this cuteness!  Love these "future Cherry Blossoms" (Sylvie and Colin will be in the same class at Open Arms starting on Feb. 4- very exciting!)

Going for a ride Outside!

It's warming up a little today...so the four-wheeler went outside.  Squeals of happiness were heard throughout the neighborhood.  Thank you Mimi!  What a great ride!!!

Cruisin' and Prom Photos

Bella came over to play tonight and the first thing the kids wanted to show her was Sylvie's ATV in the basement.  I texted this picture to Kevin and Joy and said, "One advantage to not having the basement done to our liking yet is that we don't yet care if the kids are riding an atv down here. Who needs a wet bar anyway?" :p  Joy's response was "Almost a prom photo" and when I looked at the way they were posed, I totally agreed!  LOL!
A few others...and it's a shame that photos don't have sound b/c their giggles were hilarious!
