Somebody's Been Eating My Porridge

Sylvie's mealtime antics are not as bad as her brother's were at this age...he used to shampoo food in to his hair. But lately she insists on practicing self-feeding with utensils. Today no one was really paying attention to her so she went to town with her strawberry oatmeal.

I (sort of) captured one of my favorite Sylvie-faces here. When she's trying to open something or pull something apart, she gets this concentrated face and goes, "eeehhhhh!" to further demonstrate her exertion. It's very funny. I'll see if I can capture it again some time soon.

Working 9-5

Yup, and it's a Saturday. boo- Daddy had to go in to work on a proposal today. So after naps, we decided to go to work too and then have dinner out. I have been meaning to take Brady to Tyson's Corner for a while now. The metro construction makes for Giant cranes that are literally right next to your car as you drive down the road. Indeed it is a slice of heaven for Brady! I loved it...I drove super slow and his excitement was uncontainable from the back seat. "WHOA! ANOTHER ONE! LOOK AT THAT ONE MOMMY! That's a really really tall crane!" It was So fun!

When we got to the office, the kids discovered Daddy and Mr. Mark's playground. ha!

They whiteboarded so Brady could better explain his approach to Mark (Brett's manager) while supportive Sylvie stood by and backed her bro.

Since I telework, I don't go in to the office anymore- so all this stuff is new to me. But apparently Brady's got the office hoteling reservations system down pat.

Here he is telling Sylvie, "This game is for big kids. You don't know how to do this. I will do it for you." Well dude, I don't know how to reserve hoteling space in this office either. So while you're at it, do it for me too, please. Thanks.

Quackers

Both Brady and his pal Cameron were home from school today. Tiffany, Cameron's mom, and I were IMing and decided to meet up so the boys could play this afternoon. They were on their way to the Duck Pond and we've never been- so we tagged along. These best buds are the cutest!

Sylvie thought feeding the ducks was a total waste of good carbs.
That's two less crackers for you, ducks!

Then we went to the playground...and Bella was there too! More fun friends! She played nicely with Sylvie and helped her down the twistie slide.

Community Service

While walking in our neighborhood the other day, Brady noted, "Daddy, there's a lotta pollution!" on the side of the road. Brett decided they would do something about that this afternoon. So he and Brady did a little community service and picked up all the trash. It seems to have been a mixture of legitimate household trash that blew away on one of those crazy windy days we've had and the result of some teenagers hanging out (they found lots of cans and pizza boxes). I thought this was way cool of Brett to think to do this and Brady thought it was pretty fun too. A few times I heard him say, "Hey Daddy, we're cleaning up! But we didn't make this giant mess!" lol!

While the "chain gang" was hard at work, I took pictures and Sylvie had a meal on wheels (she had her dinner in the stroller and watched the boys work).

Great job guys!

BLOB League- Session 1

As we watched our boys run at the baseball field near the park a few weeks ago, Danisa and I were talking about the practicality of putting our 3-year-olds in organized sports and decided it was a waste of money. We still want them to run around, be with their friends, and learn some games though. This is how the idea of the BLOB league (each letter being the first letter in each of our last names-was that really just one year ago?!) began. We decided we'd meet up regularly and have the daddies coach the boys. We began the season on the first day of spring and got together this morning.

Note that Brady had to remove his jacket even though it was pretty cold out to reveal his "number shirt." :p
We had a blanket for the little ones to hang out on, but at times they wanted to be in the action too and ventured out on the field.

These two could be cousins- both by looks and sounds. :p

Although it looks like she has mad face on, Sylvie was very happy that Tim carried her around and let her hang with the big boys at the playground.

As Brady always says,
"TACKLE THE MAN WITH THE FOOTBALL!"
Bry's strategy here was brilliant. He throws the ball away and yells, "Fumble! Go get the ball!" and all the boys scatter. :p

Break for snacks and drinks. Sylvie saw Henry's bunny snacks, which resemble goldfish, and it was game over. She was unable to focus on anything else. :p

This was adorable- the four friends on the see-saws. The problem was that they all weigh the same and their short legs do not reach the ground. So there they sat, perfectly balanced. :p Good thing Mr. Bryan was there to help make the see-saw fun!

Brady drove to practice this morning. ha! Of course, at 1 mph, it was a slow-go. That is, until he got to the hill at the school. Brett let him go straight down and Sylvie and I could hear both Brett and Brady laughing as the Jeep barreled down the hill. lol!

When we got home, I took this picture so we could see cute girl's theme-appropriate shirt borrowed from Maya.
