Pint-sized Picassos

Brett asked me to help him find artwork for his office. I said, "How about an original Little Luhring piece?" :) I bought the canvas and the kids did an art project tonight. At first I was going to have them follow Brett's request. (He wanted something with vertical lines.) But then I just let them go. My only rule was, "Don't smear the colors too much." b/c all too often that's what our paintings end up as- smeared giant brown globs. :) Sylvie did surprisingly well with the paintbrush and the instructions. She wanted lots of color (for Brett's sake, I hid the bottle of pink paint). Brady's vision and explanation of it were fascinating. As he painted, he described how he was making a golf course. "Here's the sand trap...if you gotta get your ball out, you need a pitching wedge. Here's the cactus where your ball can get stuck on. Here's some water, but not too much 'cuz it's the desert." (Can you tell that he was watching some golf tournament in Arizona with Grandma and Papa this past weekend?) :)
A Masterpiece indeed!

I love it so much I'm commissioning these artists for a few more pieces for our house! :)

Backwards Day

I set out Sylvie's outfit today, but she wasn't ready to get dressed just yet so I didn't dress her. Brett wound up dressing her a little bit later. She's running around and I take one look at her and am cracking.up.

I said, "Sylvie! Your overalls are on backwards!" and she goes, "Daddy do it." Of course, my dear girl. :) Brett comes downstairs and I say, "Dude, what's wrong with this picture?" It took him a minute and he just started laughing too. :p

So Nice, Wear It Twice

Since Sylvie only wore her cute outfit after nap yesterday, she wore it again today while playing with Grandma and Papa. :) I didn't realize that one of her clips is an excellent match...I should have styled her hair like this yesterday. Oh well, those little pig tail bubbles are cute too!
Here she's all "Hollywood"
...posing with her puppy, the other perfect (matching) accessory!

The crazy 2-year-old smile...you know the one I'm talking about. Somehow, cute little peeps pull off this manic look. :p

Party, party

Sylvie had a busy morning cooking and hosting a party for her princess friend. Per usual on weekends, she spent the morning in her jammies. But asked for her apron in the kitchen. Of course! Don't want to splatter your jammies while cooking! :p

This evening we went to Brady's friend Wesley's house to celebrate Wes' twin brothers' birthday. Sammy and Austin are the same age as Sylvie. We had a great time playing in their gorgeous home with all their fun toys! I didn't take any pictures at the party, but did take a few of Syl-syl before we left b/c I loved her outfit- a little corduroy blazer and coordinating boot leg jeans (and she had on her super cool black boots). The outfit is from the Maya Collection (and I think we actually gave it to her for her 2nd birthday- lol! But I loved it when I first saw it and was thrilled that Sylvie gets to wear it now!) I styled Sylvie's hair the same way Ms. Flori did yesterday b/c I thought it was so cute (and easy...even I could do it)!

Hockey Fans

When I picked the kids (all three of them- Sylvie, Brady, and Colton...SO fun!!!) up from school today, we had plans to go to the Ice House to watch part of our neighbor Tim's hockey tournament and have pizza dinner. Cameron and family joined us too, and as usual it was fun for us all!
Zsa Zsa's ready for rink-side.

This picture might seem to suggest the opposite, but the kids really were excited to watch hockey. (Colton was telling people we were at a Caps game- lol!)

There's a lot to see at the Ice House! Veronica was cracking up that the boys seemed to be watching the girls work out. haha!

Indeed there IS a lot to see at the Ice House. Sylvie and "Missa Annie," as Sylvie was calling Andy, were enthralled watching the Zamboni make its rounds. Veronica said with Andy still on his pain meds that he and Sylvie were of like mind...lol! They both enjoyed it and we enjoyed watching their heads follow the Z around the rink.

Mini Mommy

Tonight I'm in the kitchen making dinner and Sylvie is calling me from the family room where she's sitting. I go in there and say, "What do you need Sylvie?" She replies, "Gummy sacks! I feeding my baby in the wocking chay-ah. I cannot get up." omg, are you kidding me?! So I get her the snacks and give them to her. Clearly her hands are occupied feeding her baby and she says, "Can you open 'dem for me? I cannot hold 'dem. I have my baby. She hungry." It was like a flash-forward 30 years from now. LOL! Love it! When Brady was this age, he probably saw me like this with newborn Sylvie. But for the Littlest Luhring, this "model to mimic" is not present...she had to come up with this all by herself. I love it!

Faux-hawks

I'm not sure why I've never done a bathtub faux-hawk before...b/c they are hilarious fun!!! The boys bathed like rock stars tonight with crazy hair! :p

Super Sleepover!

Brady's friend Colton's twin brothers were born on Friday night. Yay! (or double yay!!! Yay, yay!) They surprised everyone and were ~6 weeks early. So we've been lucky to have Colton come play with us this week. Now that's a triple yay! YAY! YAY! YAY! :) We picked him up from school today and decided to have him spend the night. We are all loving this!
At Colton's request, they started out playing with costumes. Brady was Spiderman and Colton was a space man with the "super cool" motorcycle helmet.

The boys' version of dress-up is fun for little sis too! She insisted on being just like her big brotherS...seriously she LOVES Colton as much as Brady does and wants him to be in our family too! :) Now, I still think Brady was a super cute Buzz Lightyear, but we may have another edition of "Who wore it best?" going on here.

Game Faces. Yeah.

Here they are after baths, camping out in Sylvie's princess tent with her Percy flashlight.

Oh, these boys are so darn cute. They were doing their "Poppy preschool assigned homework" and looking for letters in the dinosaur book. (Colton loved Brady's Buddy footie jammies, btw!)

Brady insisted that they could fit in the same bed- either in his Spidey bed or on the air mattress. He was trying to convince Colton here that it would work. :p

There's a whole bunch of these picts too b/c the two boys were Cracking.Up. This book is Not a funny one (it's a Nat Geo book from the library on dinosaurs). But they both had the giggles and were feeding off each other. And that really was funny! :p

The excitement of having your best bud right next to you was overwhelming for these boys. I heard their little voices giggling and chatting until 10:30 PM! (and I'm back-blogging so can tell you they were up together @ 7 AM...which is early for Brady. But Ms. Chadney reported that they both did great at school the next day despite the limited sleep and sugar from Valentine's Day!)

Twosome

This was how our twosome was watching golf today- LOVE them!

Valentines 2012

We finished Brady's Valentine's Day cards and crafts this evening. Brady is getting Really good at writing his name. I started having him write his name on cards about two weeks ago and in just that amount of time, I've seen a real improvement! His last hurdle of making "a good Y" was overcome...they no longer look like an upside down three-pronged Poseidon's trident. :p This year, the Poppies (his preschool class) were tasked with making their own mailbox for their Valentines. Ms. Chadney's instructions were "be creative!" I went through our recycling and pulled out the Goldfish box. Since Brady LOVES dinosaurs this year, we decided to make a triceratops box for his collector. He came out pretty cute!

I took a few picts so I could remember what our 2012 valentines looked like and how great Brady wrote his name! (You can see the in-progress "Y" on Colton's and Hannah's valentines in these picts...so cute!)
