Train Room

So, perhaps it was not the Rocks indulging us on the excursion train, but we who indulged the Rocks, or at least Ken. :) He's a train-lover and has this awesome train room in the basement with an amazing set-up with all sorts of fun gadgets. Brady was down there this morning for Hours.

Rockin' in WV

We road-tripped to the Rock Resort again this weekend. As always, we all had way too much fun! The Rocks indulged us and accompanied us on the Western MD Scenic Railroad excursion train which did a loop between Cumberland and Frostburg. As Deanna put it, "We're good at going nowhere and having a blast on the way!" :p The kids seemed to like it well enough (although Brady did ask where Thomas was- ha!) and it was a good time to visit and chat.

Oh my heart. I love moments between them like this and I love that Brett got a picture of it.

We visited the gift shop before we boarded. The kids found a train table. I think we could have just done this and they would have been happy (b/c they both had fits when we left the store/train table so that we could board the real train!).

We got off the train and had lunch in Frostburg. We also go to see the locomotive get turned around on the turntable. I thought this was WAY cool!!!

Sylvie did not eat her lunch; probably b/c she filled up on Goldfish on the ride up. But was loving her cup of ice cream on the ride back...she's doomed- she's a junk food lover like her mama! :(

Sylvie was thrilled to lean over the seat to see her brother. He played along for a while, and that was nice. These pictures cracked me up b/c I noticed Brady's play face is the same as mine: an under-biting teeth grit. :)

Concluding the excursion with a nap!

We continued naps back at the "resort" and then went for a dip in the pool. Brady did great "swimming" with his vest on!

The "older boys" had the most fun with the water shooters Deanna got for the kids to play with.

Sylvie was enamored with Connor. She hung on his every word. Perhaps he would've done the same...if he was able to understand her words- ha! She would get closer and closer to him and just keep repeating her words, (for example, "sit! coy-yer! sit! coy-yer!" when she wanted him to sit next to her and color with the chalk.

Port Discovery

Since it was really hot again today, we took our play indoors and went up to Port Discovery, a giant children's museum in Baltimore.

This train had an actual whistle that sounded when you pressed the button- yeah, heard that a.lot.

He got to spray the hose (one of his favorite things) in order to play music in the water room.
They were plumbers here and had to build with PVC pipes to direct water.

They had a body drying station in the water room. I thought this was brilliant fun!

I love their faces in these two pictures.

Sand- one of my least favorite things, one of the kids' favorite things

It's a "full-service" station

Afterward, we walked along the Inner Harbor, looked at the boats and had dinner (and ice cream- yumm!).
