6 months old

Happy 1/2 Birthday Sylvie! I can't believe it's been 6 months since our sweet Sylvie was born! She continues to be a true light in our lives.

For the first two weeks of her sixth month, her night sleeping was crazy and I was up just about every hour with her (and if it wasn't with her, it was with Brady! He was going through something too...it was insane, as if we were parents of a newborn, but even as a newborn Sylvie didn't get up that much!). These days she's back to going to bed by 7:30 PM, getting up to eat between 2 and 3 AM and again between 5 and 6 and sleeping in until 7:30/8:00. She naps well for 1-2 hours in the morning and afternoon and sometimes grabs the 5:00 snooze if she's able to. As a family we are not as immobile with her as we were with Brady (I did not leave the house @ 9AM, 1PM, and 5PM with Brady and he always napped in his crib at those times). We are home in the afternoons b/c at that point everyone needs a nap, but she often takes her morning nap in the carseat b/c we're out somewhere. The car is still a sleep aid for her. As soon as we hit the road, she's snoozing.

Sylvie is like a little birdie when it comes to eating solids. She opens her mouth and readily takes whatever is being offered. So far, she's had baby oatmeal, avocado, sweet potato, bananas, pears, peaches, apples and this weekend she'll be sampling winter and summer squash.

It's hard to tell if Sylvie can actually sit up on her own. She will for a little bit. However, often she falls over b/c she's just too round (and doesn't put her hands out to catch herself) or b/c she wants to move and pushes her feet to either stand up (if you are sitting behind her) or she slides down in order to roll away. She's going to be a mover. I'm sort of bummed b/c this is my favorite part of babyhood- where they can sit up, but not move yet. Something tells me Sylvie will never "not move yet." In utero, she was a crazy happy baby in near constant motion. On the outside she's like this too. She still Loves to jump (Bumper Jumper continues to be her fav) and will push against whoever is holding her so she can bounce around. She rolls all over the floor until she runs into something that makes her stop.

She responds to her name, but has done that for quite some time now. I think I'm still her #1 favorite person (yay!) but Brady is quickly closing the gap and may go from being her #2 favorite person to her #1. She ADORES him and whips her head around seeking him out. She's always watching him and BELLY LAUGHING. One of (all of) our new favorite games is chase. I carry her and run around to catch Brady. She SQUEALS when she gets to touch him. It's a riot and makes my heart smile every time.

Since I'm back-blogging, I have her stats even though her appointment was a week after her 6 month birthday. Dr. Kim said she dropped a little in her weight percentile, but that's to be expected with her increased physical ability (sitting up, supporting herself, rolling). Um, yeah it would be totally awesome if this were applicable to adults. If I could lose weight by sitting up, supporting myself, and rolling, I'd be thrilled! :)

Weight: 17 lbs. 2 oz. (80th percentile)
Height: 26.25 inches (70th percentile)

Her slight drop in weight percentile is not reflected in this picture. LOVE those baby thighs! She has on her lady bug sandals to match the lady bug on her dress- is it not the CUTEST?!
