Happy 1.5 Birthday Sylvie! I laughed as I started this post and looked back on 18-month-old Brady. It is both- a fun and frustrating age. Sylvie still seems to want to do everything that her big brother is doing. She'll laugh when he's laughing (that hysterical- when they are both laughing at each other and I think at some point neither knows what's going on). She'll cry when he's crying (that's maddening- b/c again it gets to the point that neither knows what's going on). She plays trains, construction site, and parking lot cars with him. She happily points out diggers and bulldozers when we're driving. She loves Thomas the "choochoo! choochoo!" On the other hand, she also likes to play with her dollies, stuff her paci in her mouth (yup, she's still got it, and still loves it), and snuggle her blankets ("beh-teeee!" as she calls it. Sometimes it's tough to tell which she wants more or which she's saying- Brady or blankie).
The "girlie trait" that I don't love is her D.R.A.M.A. Everyone warned me about this...and it's started already. eeesh! There are ear-splitting screams and body-crumbles to the floor when the little girl does not get what she wants. The good news is that despite her being so determined, she is usually pretty easily distracted, another plus of this age.
Sylvie running is one of my favorite sounds. It's hilarious- little thump thump padding at the fastest rate those little legs will carry her. She also attempts any sport Brady's playing- so she can kick a ball pretty well, can swing a bat and a golf club (mostly only making contact with people though- ouch! see below), and loves to say, "catch! catch!" when she has a ball...even though she has no idea what to do with it.
She is definitely in to showing her independence. She Must have her own spoon during mealtime. She opens any doors she can by herself. She uses Brady's stool for a boost to the sink and insists "wash, wash!" when she can't reach the faucets. She loves putting her shoes on and taking them off...even though it takes FOR-ev-er! She Insists on doing it herself most of the time and screeches "no, no, nooooooo!" if I try to hurry the process along and do it for her.
Weight: 25 lbs. 5 oz. (67th percentile)
Height: 32.5 inches (76th percentile)
The kids and I walked/rode bikes to Baskin Robbins tonight to celebrate Sylvie's 1/2 birthday. Yay, fun for everyone! Here big brother is saying "Happy half birthday Syl!"
Brady let her choose the game to play when we got home. We thought she wanted to play baseball, but nope- she wanted to play whack-a-Brady with the bat. lol! Good thing you're the birthday girl (and we got ice cream b/c of it) and good thing you're cute, little miss!
