Happy (belated) Birthday Grandma!

After naps, we took the kids to Home Depot so that they could pick out flowers for Grandma's birthday present. Sylvie was pleased to share the driver's seat with Brady today.

I knew Brady would enjoy this task b/c he had fun earlier this week picking the flowers for our front yard. This time around, I was giving him free range (instead of limiting him to the selection I wanted). It was a gift from the heart and it was super fun too!

What I didn't realize was that Sylvie would have so much fun too. Not sure why I didn't see that coming since she wants to do everything big bro does! At first we left her in the cart while Brady started making his selections. But very quickly she began squawking to get out and join in the fun. Daddy carried her for a little bit until she made it clear that she did not want a closer spectator seat, she wanted to be in the game! lol!
It was funny though b/c it sort of looked like Supermarket Sweep b/c once they selected a plant, they'd excitedly run to put it in the cart and then race back to select another. It was making me laugh.

Sylvie so wanted to touch the pretty colored flowers.

Part 2 of the fun commenced while we were looking for potting soil. Brady thought it was super cool to climb on the piles. So guess who else did too?! No pictures of that b/c I thought it wiser to keep both hands free to avoid any injury that could result from falling off the Home Depot jungle gym a.k.a. a pallet of soil bags!

Part 3 of the fun (planting) was an orderly activity- complete with a cooperative 3 year-old who was very pleased to again make use of his gardening gloves, a 1 year-old who was most content to sit in her umbrella stroller (weird, but she Loves that thing!) and eat cheese sticks, and a dog who just wanted to be outside with his family.

They finished just in time for our honored birthday guest to arrive.
We had some delicious grilled steaks for dinner and birthday cake for dessert- Happy (belated) Birthday Grandma!

Bunny Picts

We're off to visit the Easter Bunny this morning. Here are my bunnies-

Brady constructed a plan to make it a successful photo opp. First, he ensured that I would be right there with him. Then he asked if he and Sylvie could bring the baby bunnies "to see their daddy bunny." He also said he would protect Sylvie and tell her it was okay to get close to the bunny. Excellent planning, son! Brady did great, but Sylvie burst in to tears when she within 2 feet of the Big Guy. Daddy's quick thinking saved the picture as he put himself between Sylvie and the bunny so she couldn't even see him. So the 2011 Easter Bunny pict was a success- yay!

High from his success with the bunny (along with the lollipop EB gave him), Brady had the confidence to confront his arch-enemy, the Chik-Fil-A cow and call a truce. Momentous, indeed!

Who are these big little people just walking the mall themselves?! How fast they are growing up!

Sylvie was Thrilled with the views the mall offered.

Another train ride- fun!

Doesn't he look like a little grown-up? He's telling his bunny he did a good job today and that he can see his daddy bunny another time. sweet boy.

Happy Hour @ Home

The kids and I returned home just as the meeting was wrapping up and the fun was beginning. Brady was very excited to hang out with "Daddy's work friends." Most had to leave by then, but some stayed to hang out.
The little man challenged Tom to a duel.
You can tell from Tom's face, it was fierce!

Sylvie, who can be shy (and upset) around strangers
liked Halsey right away.

And of course, Brian is the ever-favorite
(of us all...I love him!)

Brett's team are good people- and our kids knew it too. It was awesome to see how they both just cozied right up to everyone.

Brady- just one of the guys.
Brett hooked him up for roulette shots.
oi vey

Bartender, I'll have another!

We have some great pictures thanks to Matt who once had a summer job as a beach vacation photographer.
Talk to the hand paparazzi!

Down the hatch!

Top it off

While the kids were asleep and I was cleaning the kitchen, a round of beer pong commenced in the kids' playroom. These guys are just big kids, I suppose. :p
