Up, Up, and Away in Manassas

We went to the Manassas Regional Airport Open House this morning- it was even cooler than Leesburg's! Totally awesome!

The fun started with the shuttle ride. It was the kids' first time on a school bus (no car seats!)- exciting stuff!

Our "new" (from Craigslist) double umbrella stroller debuted here. Trouble was, at first all Brady wanted to do was ride in it...and not even get near the planes (what?!) and Sylvie thought it was a jungle gym and kept climbing in and out, in and out.
Doesn't Brady look like such a big kid in the helicopter picture?
(sniff, sniff...he's growing up way too fast for me!)

It was funny to see cute little Sylvie doing her "bees knees" walk, just strutting all over the place.

I knew Sylvie would enjoy it. She gets really excited when she spots an airplanes flying. She usually looks exactly like Papa does in this picture (in a dead stop, finger pointing, mouth open going "whoa!"). :)

Big Trucks

I took the kids to the Big Trucks event this afternoon. I was able to take some pictures when Sylvie was content in the stroller with her cookies. But these days she wants to be right next to Brady doing whatever he is doing. So once the stroller and cookie deal got old, Sylvie was out and about. I didn't want to step out of arm's reach of them while they were in the big trucks- so the pictures aren't great. But they both had fun! :p

Muffins with Mom

Brady's school had Muffins with Mom this morning. We took a picture before heading out on our date together. (Brady did notice that I looked nicer than normal- which is not hard to do when the bar's set so low! Amazing how wearing shoes other than sneakers and not wearing a baseball cap gets noticed by my sweet little man. He said, "Mommy, you could be a princess!" btw, that's Brady's way of saying, "You're pretty." It's so darn cute.) So apparently since it was sort of a formal occasion, out came the goggles! LOVE this kid!
It was short, but a cute fun time with my "dream date."

Los Ninos

This morning, Brady said, "Hey Mommy! We should go to the park after school today and have a picnic dinner there...then you won't have to clean up the mess!" (ha! Can you tell he's heard that before? I always say I'm pleased to have them eat outside b/c the wildlife cleans up the mess. Thanks birdies and bugs!) Then in talking to Miss Nikki at the reception desk this morning, we realized it was cinco de mayo! So the plan became to have taco salads (okay, they really just had taco beef + Spanish rice and tortilla chips) at the park tonight.

Brady is always intrigued by the tennis courts and if anyone is playing. There were players on the courts tonight and Brady asked if they could have dinner while we watched tennis. Works for me dude. The players thought these two were hilarious. Sylvie's screaming, "baw! baw!" and pointing and Brady's asking a million questions, "Hey, why that guy got a sweatband? Why that player hit the ball in the net?" The players had a captivated audience, so I let it ride. It was fun!

After an entire set, we finally did make it to the playground.
Little girl just wants to be big like her bro- and is a total copycat...which will cause me heart failure one day I am sure! Especially when she does things like this-
Chica Loca (crazy girl) indeed!
Grandma asked me if I had any pictures of Sylvie's trio bottom teeth. I don't have any that I took specifically for the purpose of documenting this cuteness that persists (not sure where that fourth bottom one is!), but any picture of her smiling or talking does showcase it. cutie, cutie, cutie

As I told them to run to the top of the hill and back, it reminded me of that funny VW commercial where the kids get worn out (but yup, it works!).
Then in an instant, I was reminded of the Little House on the Prairie intro...tumbling kids and giggles. awesome!

Helmet Head

Sylvie Loves the helmet that was inside her Easter basket from Grandma and Papa. How adorable is she?!

This one has the start of Sylvie-straining face as she tried to take the helmet off. Love that face...it still cracks me up every time.

Appreciating Teachers

This week is Teacher Appreciation Week. We began planning over the weekend and getting supplies. Here's Brady making a list of what we needed for Miss Tina, Miss Ashley, and Miss Flora this week:

The suggested gift for Monday was to bring your teacher flowers. We made thumbprint flower "vases" and planted the flowers Brady picked out for his teachers in them-

Tuesday was treat day. Miss Tina's favorite treats are Reese's pb cups and Miss Ashley's favorite is anything blueberry.

Wednesday was homemade cards...and somehow I didn't get a picture of that. :(

On Thursday and Friday, the administration did things for the kids. We parents got together and got Miss Tina and Miss Ashley a digital picture frame for the classroom.
