Lion Cow

Sylvie often insists on wearing her cow jacket (even though it's too small and too light to wear in the winter, it's sometimes not the battle I choose to have with her).  She likes to wear the hood and when she put it up as we were leaving HT tonight, I told her she looked like a lion cow b/c of her mane of hair.  love these two goobers!

My half-finished photo project for my office made for some good decorations for Sylvie's birthday today. :) Love those happy accidents {that occur to me @ 1 AM when I'm about to go to sleep, but decide to better-decorate so that our three-year-old has something fun to wake up to on HER day!}!

Good morning! Happy Birthday Sylvie!

 She had her 3-year wellness appointment this morning.  This was the first time they gave us a paper gown.  Sylvie was not sure about it.  I tried to make her feel better by telling her I'd make her a princess gown like Cinderella- ha!  She was still not sure...and the grumpy face is b/c this was before we were told that there would be no vaccinations/no shots at this visit.  :)

Then she went to daycare to hang out with her pals for the day.  We had a birthday(care) party with cupcakes and cookies that the little miss picked out herself.

She came home to see the present Mimi got for her...we wanted to allow her some time to try it out herself before Brady saw it and took over. ;p  Daddy even let her ride it in the house- weeeeeee!

Then we went to Sweetwater Tavern for dinner (Sylvie wanted mac and cheese for dinner, and you can get that anywhere, so why not go somewhere we all enjoy?!).  She took her new (hand-me-down) stroller to the restaurant.  We have so many strollers already, we decided that this one would be another outside one.  She rolled that thing through the parking lot, through the restaurant, and parked it at the table. so cute!

Brady found her ATV immediately when we got home.  He was a RIOT on that thing!  (just look at his face!)  This time we took it in the basement.  His hysterical laughter is so contagious!

 

He was loving it and it worked out fabulously that Sylvie actually prefers to be his passenger than be the driver.  a.w.e.s.o.m.e!!! {aren't they the cutest? he wanted a "number shirt too to wear today" when he saw Sylvie's and goes, "hey! how about I wear my 5 shirt cuz I've 5 and Sylvie wears her 3 shirt cuz now she's 3?" good plan dude, good plan}

We opened some more presents and had some More cupcakes to finish out Sylvie's fun third birthday! 

Our present to her was her first Barbie, with a remote-control car so she could be like Brady. :)

 He thought it was hilarious to try and jump over her car while she drove it.  We thought so too.  haha!

I decided to implement something I saw online- decorate with balloons with dollar bills in them and the birthday kid gets to pop the balloon to get their money for their piggy bank.  I forgot to do this on Brady's birthday, so he got a green balloon with a $5 bill in it. :p  Sylvie had three pink balloons with dollar bills.

  New strategy: teamwork.  Maybe more weight will pop it! :)

Happy Birthday Baby Bunny!  We Love You!

3 years old

Happy 3rd Birthday Sylvie!  She's a big girl now, but I keep telling her she will Always be my baby...and she agrees to that. :)  She's still my gal pal, prefers me...and I'll take it while I can get it!  I'm not sure if it's just her age (Brady was like that when he was a tike too) or it's b/c she's a girl.  She does like to segregate us sometimes and often says things like, "We girls. Girls on girl side. Boys on boy side" (separating Daddy and Brady from her and me).

She loves girlie things like the colors pink and purple, dolls, and princess stuff.  But she's also still a bit rough and tumble and can totally hang {wrestle, run, play boy stuff} with Brady and his pals.  She thoroughly enjoys dance class and is an AMAZING student.  It's pretty awesome to see her so motivated and interested...and she's the cutest little dancer I ever did see!

Her language is fantastic.  She makes me laugh with her original thoughts and ability to communicate.  Her semantics are hilarious b/c she uses words appropriately and gets her meaning across.  For example, she says things like, "The trash is going to wind away out there!" (using the noun "wind" as a verb instead of "blow" but you Totally get what she's saying!)  The other day she said to me, "But I want the shirt with the clue on it that Mimi got me!"  I was confused at first, but realized she meant the shirt with the paw print (which she calls "clues" from the Blues Clues tv show which she hasn't seen in forever!)  She'll talk your ear off if given the chance, and she's so cute and funny that she's often given the chance b/c you just Want to listen to her chatter away!  Her verbal acuity is accompanied by very mature-looking expressions...and on her round little face, it only makes the presentation that much more impressive and adorable.

Sylvie still takes a 2-hour nap daily and sleeps about 10 hours at night.  We finally kicked the paci habit after she bit through her last one.  She hasn't had one at daycare for about a year now, but kept insisting on one at home.  She talks and SHOUTS in her sleep.  It's funny and a little disturbing...although apparently not to Brady who's been sleeping in her room for several weeks now.

Birthday Breakfast

The drippy "fail" of homemade strawberry cupcake icing from the other night made for some dee-lish birthday pancake topping this morning for our newly minted three-year-old!
