Relax. Rinse. Repeat.

This getaway weekend was almost a carbon copy of last year's...and that was Just Perfect! Even the weather was the same! So yet again on this Saturday we had breakfast on the porch, then sat there talking for hours while it rained lightly all day.
Failed timer shots (couldn't get the lighting right), but still fun!

Lighting check and "action chit chat" shot- :)
Then we went to the movies and saw Dark Knight- which was awesome and even more awesome for us all to talk about!  It was Pouring down rain and yes, Brett brought our camera into the theater.  So we figured we'd put it to use like total tourist.  Not sure why my "Batman face" looks like my "grr Army guy face???"
We found this great Italian restaurant and borrowed "Christian's" reservation (b/c we didn't realize we need one- doh!).  "I'm Abe Froeman, the Sausage King."
Happy 9th anniversary, Abrahams!
 Happy 36th birthdays, Luhrings!
 Happy Us!
And good thing we rocked out our Friday night...b/c tonight we were in bed by 10 PM! ha!

Happy Birthday Luhrings; Happy Anniversary Abrahams, 2012 Edition

We returned to Cedar Spring Inn to celebrate our b-days and the Abrahams' annie, adult style (which equates to uninterrupted adult conversation, leisurely meals, lazy days, and relaxation).  Again, it was heavenly!  Last year, Vik was disappointed that we brought the RX-7 b/c that meant he was our chauffeur for the weekend.  We dropped the kids off at Grandma's house and took a pict before we left (b/c I'd intended to text Vik with it and tell him, "We're on the road").
But Brett said Vik already knew what car we were taking.  About halfway in to the drive, I get a text from Sat, "What ride are u guys coming in? Tell Brett we borrowed Sonny's z4"  ha!  So we replied by posting to Facebook-
En route to C-ville whoohoo! (note: Not wahoo).
Yes Vik Abraham, in the 2-seater RX-7.
Thanks for being our DD again this year!
We arrived a little bit before Sat and Vik, but gave them updates-
Better tell Vik to speed it up. Brett's gonna clean this out b4 you get here.
(the three of them cleaned the popcorn machine out each day last year)
Brett's pounding popcorn, Sathya style. Better hurry!
We enjoyed the amazing view and watched a gorgeous sunset as we waited for our friends to arrive.
We had dinner and great conversation at a seafood restaurant, that we closed down. Then we headed back to the inn and hung out in the hot tub and pool until we closed that down too (and the lights went out on us) @ 2:30 AM.

Happy Birthday to Us!

Brett and I celebrated our birthdays together today at lunch since Brady has his final swim lesson this evening (and since Brett was working late on his birthday one week ago).  We had football cake and candles after swim lesson tonight.  Happy Birthday to Us!
And how cute and appropos is this card that Brady (AND his bff, "Colton Hicks," as he signed it) made me today?  My heart melted when I opened it.  Brady said, "We made this card for you. Me and Colton. I let him write his name 'cuz he helped." love love love!

Last Lesson

Brady had his final swim lesson tonight.  It was a great experience!  He did two classes with the Sea Turtles and then graduated to the Dolphins (that was this last session).  Sea turtle, dolphin, whatever- he's swimming like a little fish these days!  Yay!

Kids Cleaning Cars

Hmm, it seems as if a car wash is what we do on days honoring me. ha!  We washed cars on Mothers Day and again today, on my birthday.  Never mind the fact that neither time resulted in the gift of a clean car, it was a fun time! :p

Our Little League

We met up with some school pals to burn some energy and play today.  Everyone sort of scattered and did their own thing, but it's always fun to get together anyway!  At one point, Evan and Cameron were walking the track, Maddie, Brayden, Carter, and Haylie were playing on the jungle gyms, Sylvie, Colin, and baby Emily were just hanging out with the moms and Brady was hitting baseballs while three dads played infield.  It was awesome (and cuter than the pictures show)...
Then we invaded the Pauleys' awesome house for lunch and more play time (for kids and adults!).
Before the rain came, the fellas were hanging out on the deck,
while the kids were rocking out in the clubhouse
(that's Carter doing karoake Tao Cruz Dynamite...SO cute!)
Kristin printed "Jake, the Never Land Pirate" coloring pages for the kids, then cut them out, and made puppets out of them by attaching craft sticks.  (Is she awesome or what?! I mean, who has craft sticks on hand?! Supermom Kristin!)  Here the kids are showing us their pirate puppets (while little Colin's attempt to be seen has Brett a little panicked- ha!).
This was their idea- to really show their puppets as they hide behind the couch.
Are they cute or what?!
They ended up in the basement in the "kids workout room," as Carter called it, and playing with Chad's "original West VA toy" that was a Huge hit (yes, it's 7 ft of PVC pipe and marbles...endless fun!!!).

Broadlands Carnival

We met the Ehlerts and the Pauleys up at our neighborhood carnival today.  A short time, but (free) fun for all- whoohoo!
She's looking a little too "toddlers and tiaras" here in the process (and do you like how the shaved ice she ate just before created it's own lipstick? ha!)

Pick Your Own

We met up with the Pauleys and the Ehlerts at Crooked Run Orchard today.  We picked blackberries, peaches, and summer apples.  It was SO much fun!

Look closely- Evan's showing me his pick (not showing me The Bird, which is what it sort of looks like and seeing this pict makes me laugh every time!)

Sylvie disobeyed the orchard lady's rules and ate her weight in fruit.  The evidence was (literally) written all over her face And clothes! :p
 Yay! Haylie's here!!!
" Say cheese!" er, "Say apple!"
 Picking break in the shade...

Afterward, we went to Subway for lunch.  My heart smiled at the kids' table.  I LOVE it! (and I told Chad, I was making notes for the "ideal Poppies neighborhood" that we want to create: Must have Subway nearby and/or designated kids' tables throughout!  Chad and I came up with a brilliant plan to buy 10 acres nearby and then for all of our families to build our ideal homes on the lot.  The Pick Your Own Plan...hatched while picking our own today!)  :)
