Happy Mother's Day 2012!

It was a day all to ourselves today...literally!  (That's why we have a timer shot above...which was accompanied by it's own hilarity and bribery.)  Brett was working on the townhouse with Vik all day today from morning until evening so I just hung out with my little peeps and we enjoyed the day.  They made me sweet gifts at school and it was fun to open them and hear them tell me about them.
Don't let their forced cheeese! faces and sun-squinting eyes fool you...this was by no means a "chore" for them!  Spraying water + bubbles = super fun!  (Note: does not necessarily = clean car) :p

Soccer Picts

We missed the official soccer pictures that were being taken by the league last week b/c rain in the middle of practice resulted in chaos.  So we decided to take our own pictures this week with our own cameras.  I don't know what the league picts looked like, but ours came out pretty cute...and we even got Coach Ephram, the trainer in there!  :)  Again, thanks to Graeme for taking these!

Broadlands Live

The weather was p.e.r.f.e.c.t.this evening to attend the first of the monthly outdoor summer concerts held in our neighborhood.  We met several friends there and that made it fun for us all!  This was the first time we all went as a family.  (I went 3 years ago for a GNO when I was just about 8 weeks pregnant with Sylvie.)  I'm pretty sure we weren't exactly the picture perfect suburban family as we entered the space and were told we had to put our glass bottled beers in cups.  Okay, no problem...except that we didn't bring a bottle opener.  So there Brett is hitting the beer bottle on the side of the kids' wagon (like you would to a counter top) to get access to his alcohol.  LOL!  Let me tell you, it was a sight to see!  So he finally gets the bottle open using my keys and we set up camp next to the Pauleys.  I'm talking to Kristin, so I didn't see this happen.  But I turn around to the sound of Sylvie wailing and see her d.r.i.p.p.i.n.g wet, and she smells like a brewery.   Somehow most all of the beer in the red Solo cup that Brett had worked so hard to get was now covering our terrified toddler- from head to toe.  We removed her soaking wet shirt, put her cow jacket on, and gave her some gummy snacks and all was right in her world once again!
These whirly airplanes someone was handing out were fun too...except when you trip and the plastic end goes right in to the fleshy part of your hand.  ouch!  Poor Brady...second crisis of the evening averted with some first aid cream and a band-aid.  :)

Mono y Yo

That's the name of this weird book we got free in a Cheerios box years ago, but it fits here!  Ms. Tiffany brought over a few toys that Cameron's older sister Maddie had outgrown and Sylvie is Super happy!  She's been playing non-stop with her new dollhouse (her very first real one- it's so awesome!) and with this little monkey who sleeps in a tree hammock.  She's named him Mono (b/c they were just discussing monkeys at daycare and that's how you say monkey in Spanish).  Can you see her happiness in this picture?  (She's got gummy snacks, her fav, and Mono- not sure life could get any better for her at this moment!)

On Our Way

I had to capture this moment this morning (only had my phone) b/c I wanted to remember that it was happy.  The weather has been fantastic lately (and we're actually somewhat on time @ 8:30 AM) so we've been walking the 1/2 mile to Sylvie's daycare.  I just remember smiling when I looked at them- Sylvie strolling along chattering away and Brady pedaling as fast as his little athletic 4-year-old legs will take him.  Love them!

Bright. Eyed. and Bushy-haired!

Dressing kids in bright clothing doesn't necessarily diminish the sleepiness.  :p  How cute are they with the crazy eyes, silly smiles, and bed heads?

Mayflower

I thought she looked so darn cute in her hand-me-down dress, so of course, I took her pict this morn-

Post Soccer Play

For the first time it was chilly for our soccer session today.  We didn't take any pictures during the session b/c we're both out on the field with the kids.  btw, sweet Sylvie was Fantastic today while we are coaching!

I wasn't sure how this was going to go. First off, b/c our session time starts @ 1 PM, when the littlest Luhring is usually napping. Second, she was sad and confused during the first practice. She cried b/c she wanted me and didn't understand that she couldn't be on the field when the rest of her family was out there! Last week she stayed home with Mimi and napped. Grandma and Papa are out of town this weekend, so she's totally on her own on the sidelines (well, she is among friends that are like aunties and uncles to her- Kristin, Tiffany, and Graeme are there watching Evan and Cameron).
Anyway so today we brought along a folding captain's chair (and this is terrible, but kind of funny the way it works out) and I told her it was ONLY for her to sit in. She goes, "Dis is NOT Bwaydee's???" "No, Syl-syl, ONLY for YOU! YOUR special chair." Wouldn't you know it, she didn't Move from that chair for the 45 minutes we were there! ha! She just sat playing with her toys and feeding her baby doll in HER (not Brady's!) chair.  Sylvie Rae, you are pretty awesome!!! (even if your motivation is pure selfishness- lol!)

These pictures are from the kids playing after practice.  Again, Sylvie was a champ and hung with the rest of the kids despite the fact that her nap was delayed by 1.5 hours! (and yes, Brady was supposed to get a trim at Daddy's barber shop last night, but his bob and weave action cost him a few lop-sided locks, resulting in a shorter do. Not quite Clooney cut, but shorter than it's been lately.)
Brady's face- LOVE it!
He's got the happy, "I gotta tell you something" face on in the picture with Evan.
Mischief is brewing here. Apparently Brady has no preference for which of the Davis kids he's plotting with- his BFF Cameron, or Cam's older sister Maddie.  :)

Apparently the game's changed to rugby here. These kids love to tackle and pig pile lol!

Beamer's Buddies

I have no idea how much $ these fellas had to donate to get this face time with Beamer after his golf game with Mehul, but by the smiles on their faces and their child-like excitement, I'd say whatever it was, it was worth it!  ;p

Styling and Celebrating

I loved Sylvie's outfit today- hand me down dress and skinny jeans.  Cutie Cake!!!
I also love her little feet.  :)
After going out to dinner, we celebrated Grandma's birthday with cream pie and candles.
Love this picture!  Happy (belated) birthday Grandma!

Maroon vs. White

The Luhring boys (Brady, Brett, and Papa) headed to Blacksburg today for the Spring Game to get a preview of the upcoming football season.  They had a great drive there + back and had fun tailgating...but never did get to see the game b/c it was cancelled due to a thunderstorm.  Apparently that did not stop the fun.  With the resulting puddles and prepared kids with rainboots, it may have made the event even better!  ha!
Look at all that hair under that cap!
Shot before they left-
Stealing Vik's FB caption here: Spring Game 2012...class of 2030
Brett's caption: "I'm pretty sure there are at least 3 different conversations going on in this picture. And yes, that is a magic ball that stands on its end by itself.  And no, that car in the background did not run them all over."  LOL!

This picture captures one of Brady's stances that we see often- hands out when he's asking something or making a point. He's an awesome 4 year old. (and hmm, now that I look at this moment more closely, maybe here it's that he's questioning why Avi is holding a crushed beer can on top of his head- ha!)

I'm pretty sure this is their follow-through after launching a football.
But this captured moment made me giggle.
More giggles elicited here.
And here too.
Here comes the rain...
 AIR!
This face- I love it, but it usually signals trouble or mischief!
 S-P-L-A-S-H!!!
I think these look like superhero action shots.  :)
