Happy Campers

We're are already going to be able to check something off our list!  What better way to kick off summer than a weekend camping?!  This year, Jenny coordinated the "camp site" with her brother and sister-in-law.  Their awesome 9-acre home was where we set up camp and created our very own Shanty-town! ;p
This "camp site" was awesome- complete with gracious hosts, lots of land, lots of games, a firepit, a pool, and a hot tub!  Pretty sure our pre-schoolers view of camping is distorted with this poshness!
The fellas played horseshoes (and Horse) on the bball court.
Super Moon!

How awesome are these!  Chad and I called this one the iPhone "Home" button.
(strategically placed glowstick)
Yes, I'm magical...on Super Moon night!
Roasting marshmallows and making s'mores!
These pictures were taken over at least 15 minutes time (as Susan and Merrick roasted the Same marshmallows).  The Jamaicans' inaugural s'mores making provided some entertainment for us! ;p
The kids made their own campfire with their flashlights, lanterns, and glowsticks and told their own ghost stories.  So cute!  (I had to use flash to actually capture the moment, but it was dark {except for the brightness of the Super Moon}.)
Just like last year, I don't think I slept more than 20 minutes. sigh. I was literally counting the minutes until sunrise so everyone else would wake up (and let me tell you with Super Moon, I was tricked several times...it was So light out all night long, pretty awesome!)  So this is "roughing it" for me...being up at the crack of dawn before everyone else.  wild!
The kids went swimming again on Sunday morning.  Imagine my surprise when Chad told me it was only 9:45 (!) and we'd already had chips and salsa leftovers and the kids had been playing "house" in the tents and swimming for a good two hours.  LOL!  Man, we usually will have just gotten up and moving @ 9 AM in our house!  Again, this is the Luhrings "roughing it."  ha!
 cutie-cake!

Summer, Summer, Summertime!

It's the first day of summer, so we made our first-ever "Summer Fun To-Do List" today.  With the exception of a few items (that related to using our new patio), the kids came up with these all on their own.  They're pretty excited about having a list of things to look forward to...very cool that they found just making the list to be fun...we're in for a GREAT summer!

Syl Says

I'm documenting some Sylvie sayings here before Daddy's corrections are enabled and she stops saying them.  :)

Stay = Keep
Example:
"I want to stay dem togehduh."  (I want to keep them together.)
"I'm gonna stay dem wight here so I can play with dem when I get home." (I'm gonna keep them right here so I can play with them when I get home.)

Very = Really
Example:
"I can't very do it."

This one is only relevant to the bath.
"Mommy, I want you to take me a bath. Can you take me a bath?"
(ha! I imagine this one comes from us saying, "You have to take a bath.")

Happy Father's Day 2013!

It was a mini C-Bud Reunion this Father's Day.  With both Steve and Murali in town, we met up at Murali's sister's house for a bbq...b/c that's what you do on Father's Day!  Here's our attempt at a fam foto before leaving...Romey was Sylvie's stand-in. ha!  (Little sister was in a mood and was Not having any part of the timer shot.)
The C-Bud Daddies
 Stand tall, Friend, stand tall!
Jeff was the Pied Piper...the kids LOVED him.  He made up creative games (using only the bucket of ice and his imagination) and told them all sorts of fun facts.  They could not get enough of him.

Happy Father's Day Daddies!!!

Fun-da-middle

This afternoon we're headed to a block party @ Cameron's house.  We made Fun-da-middle cupcakes for the party.  As usual, I had an adorable little helper.  Sylvie is a domestic diva- LOVES (seriously!) to help cook, clean, and do laundry.  It's the cutest thing and I really enjoy our time together (plus, we're getting things that we need to get done, done!)  Of course, this task is one of her favs b/c the benefits of bowl and beater licking come along with it!

Going Dutch for Bella's 6th!

Happy Birthday Bella!  We're having a Dutch Wonderful day celebrating!
 Still the fav...
These two are hilarious...smiling and then fighting like a married couple riding in the car...
Birthday cupcakes and picts with the Princess

Of course, we had to let the kids SCORE again (so that we adults could laugh ourselves silly!)!!
 Amish Luhrings

 Amish Ehlerts and Amish Morels
Hayes busted the photo cut-out reality wide open!
When did she get to be the Big Kid?!  I mean, what?!
Here she was two years ago (Emily's age) riding this ride as the little kid...
and now here she is the "big kid" with "little kid" Emily.  Say what?!?!
Of course we returned to the Frog Hopper for another 67 rides!
No fun; no fun at all!
Nope, not having a good time...
Seriously, not even a little bit of fun here...
After having dinner on-site, we closed down DW again.
A Dutch Wonderful day for sure!
