Hostess with the Mostess

Just walked in the playroom and found this hilarity. I literally LOLed. Apparently action figures gotta eat too! Good thing Sylvie's a good hostess and serves her friends lunch. (Note that Raphael is having pickles, bacon, and a cinnamon roll...no, no that's NOT an onion {Sylvie will tell you- "It's a cinnamon roll!"})

Either the Batmobile is in the shop and these superheroes had to use alternate transportation OR these are bank-robbing shorties on the run!

:) Restored

I was in a bad mood earlier this week.  Everything was just sort of setting me off.  Little things, stupid things.  For example, we were told to send an empty tissue box in to school with Brady so that he could create his Valentines mailbox.  We only have the short square boxes, so I thought it best to send in two so that he could stick them together.  But I only had one empty box by the time it was due.  So I took a 70% box full of tissues apart and for some reason it really annoyed me every time I looked at the messy homeless pile of tissues.  I was more annoyed when I asked Brady if his mailbox came out cool with the two boxes and he said, "I only used one 'cuz other friends' moms didn't send one in, so Ms. Kathy gave someone one of my boxes."  Again, I was in a mood, I thought to myself, "Well it better have been someone I liked, at least!"  LOL!  Anyway, my mood is better now...it's been a happy Valentine's Day and my pile of tissues is no longer homeless.  In fact, their home received a makeover with fresh paint and decoration...and I Love it!!!  :)

 Happy Valentine's Day!!!

I was feeling a little bad about not making heart-shaped pancakes with strawberries cut like hearts.  But when I mentioned it, they both said, "Can we have our Cheerios and Apple Jacks?"  YES, you awesome kids, yes!  :)  {They eat the same thing for breakfast every day- Cheerios with a few Apple Jacks or Fruit Loops mixed in.  It's awesome that they love it b/c it's so easy and fast.  Love you kids!!!}  I did make a heart of the AJs and then laughed when I realized it could be a color blind vision test...confirmed when Brett failed to see the heart.  LOL!  [he's slightly red/green color blind]  I have some pretty awesome Valentines...they make me laugh and I love all three of them with my whole heart!!!

So Brady wore the red (football) shirt we gave him today.  Sylvie had pajama day at her school.  We managed to find love bug bottoms and pair it with a cute Valentine's shirt- and yet again, she looked adorable.  These two sure do know how to squeeze my heart.  They were So cooperative this morning when I asked if I could take a Valentine's Day picture of them.  They came up with most of these poses themselves and said things like, "I Looooove Sylvie.  Can you take a picture of us hugging?"  "Brady, let me hold on to you!  I love you!  Cheeeeeese Mommy!"  "Oh Mommy, I know!  Can you take a picture of me and Sylvie laying down and holding hands?"  I mean, what?!  How'd I get so lucky (today anyway- ha!)?!

Class Valentines

I'm not sure why every year I think this is a good idea.  I want to make Valentines with the kids.  I envision it being a teaching moment (practice writing, cutting, pasting) of a craft filled with love.  But in actuality it is typically me pleading for nice handwriting and a better attitude.  lol!  It wasn't so bad this year.  Here's a shot of the process...kind of fun (? again all depends on how you look at it) that Sylvie had her own valentines to do this year.  They each had 20+ (!) cards to do!

The valentines actually came out pretty cute!  As I was hunched over the kitchen island late at night finishing up, Brett asked me, "How long do you think you can keep this up?"  I laughed and said, "Not much longer. But for now it's fun, but I have an * next to fun!  Didn't you do Valentine's cards when you were little?" He goes, "Yeah, but my mom went to the store and bought 20 for like $1 and I just signed them all."  lol!  Yeah well that will likely be the plan next year.  :p

Brady's all had chocolate/sprinkle dipped marshmallow hearts attached.  (Sylvie took the same treat in for her class party...they Love marshmallows.) 

Sylvie's all had Hershey's Hugs and Kisses attached.  I wrote "xoxo," and she wrote "Sylvie" on all 20+ valentines!  She was the only one in her class (which is made up of mostly 4 year olds, who are one year older than her) who signed her own name on her cards.  Way to go Syl!

She even wrote "Tina" and "Ashley," her teacher's names.  She's awesome like that!

(I can distinctly remember writing all of Brady's for him when he was three years old..b/c it was the first time we did Valentines b/c it was his first time in "big kid school.")

We got them a few fun little treats (things like heart shaped water bottles, fruit tape, gummy snacks, a shirt/a headband...and tickets to Disney on Ice this weekend- whoohoo!!)

Valentine Girl

I wanted to take picts of her outfits the whole week, but sometimes my little Valentine Girl is not so cooperative or our mornings are madness (okay, most of the time our mornings are madness- lol!).  Here she is today looking adorable in the shirt Grandma recently got for her-

Love Dance

We picked up Emma (from Ms. Omayma's) on our way to dance class today.  Can I tell you how thrilled Sylvie was to have one of Her friends riding in the car?  {Don't get me wrong, she does love Colton, but having Emma back there made her super happy!}

Sylvie's still not feeling 100% better though.  For the first time ever, she was a little clingy during dance class, and even sat a few songs out!  (Ms. Kristen said, "Well that's surely an indicator that she's not feeling well! Sylvie is one of my best students!") The little miss wore red tights and her heart leotard in honor of Valentine's week- fitting since we LOVE dance so much!

They always review the rules of tap before they begin the tap session of the class.  Sylvie enjoys this as much as anything.  It's very funny to hear her repeat back what Ms. Kristen has taught them. 
Ms. Kristen: "Do we run in our tap shoes?" 
Sylvie: "Nooooo." 
"Do we walk fast?" 
"Noooooo, cuz dat's like wunning and we could fall on our bottoms!"
"And how long will that hurt for?"
 "For twee whole days!!!"  
"3 whole days!  That's right.  Can we put our hands on the floor?" 
"Nooooo, 'cuz a friend might tap tap tap on them." 
"Right, and how long will that hurt for?" 
"For twee whole days!!!" 

It really is adorable!

 

Today they did a little pom-pom shaking during tap time.  btw, Ms. Kristen is a former Redskins cheerleader...maybe she's training some future recruits? :p

 

Afterward Ms. Kristen had a special treat- Valentine's cupcakes with special candy-shaped rings!  We all watched Sylvie cautiously, but nope- go figure the cupcake went down smooth despite an upset tummy!  :)

Continued new year...

The little miss is feeling better today, so she's headed to school.  I wanted her to wear Valentine's shirts all week b/c she has a whole bunch of cute heart and love shirts.  I had her in Maya's "Daddy's Girl" shirt today, but she insisted that she needed to "be Chinese" today.  ha!  (she's wearing the Chinese vest that Mimi got Brady four years ago)  New year's festivities continue in to the school week...

Happy new year! This is about as festive as this 1/4 Chinese kid can get today since she's not feeling well. :( Stayed in her jammies all day long, but she donned her oriental jacket for a trip to the grocery store.

Preacher Girl

Conversation with 3-year old Sylvie this past week:

Mommy, do you know Jesus?
Yes, Sylvie I do.
Yeah, but have you finded him?
Yes, Sylvie I found him.
Oh. You sawed him in my backpack?! Cuz I know him and I finded him in my backpack! Ms. Tina gived him to me. He's a big boy Jesus. Not the baby Jesus, dough.

ha! Up until a point, it was like having a conversation with a tiny southern baptist lady!  :p

Happy 5th Birthday Riley!

We got to play with our friends and (catch up with our previous next-door neighbors) this afternoon as we celebrated Riley's birthday at Reboundeerz, a place with giant trampolines. So fun, and exhausting.  ;p
