Sylvie's daycare is closed in these last two weeks of June. We are planning a few short trips, but also have a few work days sprinkled in there. (For example, today Brett had a proposal due, so it was a workday.) Since we were @ Grandma and Papa's last night and they were going to be watching them today, I told the kids if they were really good listeners they could have a sleepover at Grandma and Papa's. All four of them (grandkids and grandparents) were happy about this! :) It was weird driving home without the little Luhrings and it was weird to not have my alarm clocks (Sylvie calling me or Brady shuffling in our room) this morning. But the grands (kids + parents) had a blast and the 'rents were relaxed. :) Here are a few picts from Papa's camera. It was a rainy day, so they made a table tent and camped out-

Happy Father's Day 2012!
"Daddy's Girl" (as her shirt says) was a little pouty for this pict, but whatever- still a happy Father's Day! :)

Riverdance Date
Brett and I had a long overdue date night tonight and went to Wolf Trap to see Riverdance. I've always wanted to see Riverdance and I've never been to Wolf Trap...loved the venue, the show, and my date! :)
Yes, the girl is drinking beer and the boy is having wine. :)
That's just how we do!
Adorable Accessorizing
Sylvie accessorized all on her own today...and I LOVED it! Despite the fact that it's summer, she chose the Dora boots (my fault for leaving them in plain sight) and then put on her new floppy hat. omg! I wish I was this cute!
Now, the plastic golf club accessory, I could do without. She obliged.
I mean, seriously?! a-DORA-ble!!!

BLOB BBQ @ the Burkes
We had a bbq dinner at the Burkes' new home this evening. As always, it was a blast catching up with these great friends. The fellas had their beers and the girls had this super yummy drink Coco introduced us too (and I even liked it!! That's saying something! Vodka + diet blueberry juice + sprite...refreshing and deelish!)
The big boys played so well together- it made us all smile.
BLOB 2.2 (the little siblings) also played together nicely this time around...that was fun to see! Sylvie was attached to Lilly- playing with her, eating whatever she had. The girls gotta stick together! :)
But they also had a blast with Henry and Wes.

Scooby Doo, Where Are You?
I totally thought of the "ghosts" that were on Scooby Doo as I looked at our hardwood floors today. The kids were outside playing chalk. I remember distinctly saying, "Hey, I just wiped down the floors, so tell me when you want to come in and I'll rinse you off, okay?" I had to laugh when exactly what I thought would happen, happened! (I did not realize how cute these two-year-old footprints would be though!) So "Scooby Doo ghost-like," right? You remember how it was Never a real ghost ("Zoiks!") only a person pretending to be a ghost by doing something like walking in flour. The writers had to have had little people in their house too! :p

Pool Boys
Jenny instituted "Poppies' Pool and Pizza Fridays" this summer. The Poppies (Brady's preschool class) have a standing date at our neighborhood fountain pool to wrap up the week. Tonight was the first time we met up- five families, SUPER fun!!! I only took this one picture (on my phone) though...the three amigos just naturally all sat together on the deck chairs like this while they were trying to warm up.
LOVE these boys (and their fams!)!

Strawberry Fields Forever...
...or until Memorial Day this year! :p We went strawberry picking at the farm today. It wasn't as abundant as in years past. Perhaps b/c of the warm weather this year the peak of the season was earlier. Instead of the usual 10 lbs. or so we've brought home in previous years, we only picked about 1 lb. this year.
She's ready (and darn cute)!
Going in...

Grandma and Papa met us there...even with 6 "farm hands," we just didn't take home many this year. (Although Grandma says she probably ate about a pound's worth- awesome!) :)

Hot and exhausted strawberry pickers!

Happy Memorial Day 2012!
Love that it worked out that their red/white/blue shirts had complementary sayings on them!
Sylvie's says, "Daddy thinks I'm awesome" / Brady's says, "Mom's Pride and Joy" :)

Happy Campers
The Ehlerts invited us to go camping at Lake Fairfax this weekend. It was a first for all of us...I've never camped in a tent either! The kids were SO excited about. Thanks to our neighbors who let us borrow an awesome 6-person tent, lanterns, and sleeping mats and the Ehlert families who totally knew what they were doing, we were happy campers! We had a fantastic time, but I really didn't take many pictures. :( It was hot and sticky when we arrived...hence Sylvie's wet hair in these picts. :p
Dan took some picts on Sunday morning, stating that he liked going for the "authentic" (read: we haven't showered) look. lol! (I'll insert these picts when Dan sends them to me!) :)
S'mores (or rather just plain roasted marshmallows for her- YUMM!)
The camping-extraordinaire Ehlert families thought of everything including glowstick necklaces and sparklers at night and an IHOP-like breakfast of omelets and pancakes in the morning...the kids were very pleased!!!Dan took some picts on Sunday morning, stating that he liked going for the "authentic" (read: we haven't showered) look. lol! DIY Preparation
I was busy doing something and the kids didn't want to wait for me to help them put their shoes on when they wanted to go outside today. I thought they'd just put on flip flops or crocs (b/c w/o laces or anything, they can each put these shoes on themselves). I laughed out loud when I walked outside to find Brady golfing in rain boots and shorts and laughed harder when I saw that Sylvie had followed suit. (Rain boots are the easiest for them to put on themselves...and actually it worked out b/c the grass was a little soggy.) I'm sitting on the porch and Sylvie walks by me headed for the door. I say, "Where are you going?" She replies, "I need some-ting" without stopping. She comes out like this (with Brady's winter hat on) and goes, "Bway-dee! I ready to play baseball! I got my hew-met on!" I about died laughing and then laughed harder when I realized she could pull this off! Cutie-cake!
Picture Day x2
It was picture day at Sylvie's daycare today. We had Brady sit in for a few picts with her. I think the photographer got some cute shots of them...we'll see! Here's a few we took before we left-
She's nutty- here's proof. :p
And apparently cookoo is contagious...
he's got it now too!
