We went to the Pillais for a cookout today. The daddies took the kids to the playground and came back with some cute pictures-

Happy Memorial Day
I'm beginning to think I'll never get a picture of all four of us that I love. But I had to try today anyway- while we were all red, white, and blued! :) Sylvie just could not stop looking at her brother, who had just woken up from his nap and was a little bit sleepy. Here's the best the camera timer could do-
They did better when I was behind the camera. This one is cute.
They did okay when Brett was behind the camera.
We all did great when Brady was behind the camera.
His focus was a little "off." :p We were reviewing his pictures with him and then we'd coach him. Here's the feedback we gave him and the resulting next shot:

"This one is good Brady. But we can't see Sylvie.
Look for her in the camera before you take the picture."
"Better. We see Sylvie,
but now we can't see Mommy and Daddy in this picture."
"Not bad, but where is Daddy's head?"
"Okay Brady. That was fun, but I think your sister is done now."
With his subjects exhausted, he went for a self portrait-Look for her in the camera before you take the picture."

Bubble Boy
The fun just keeps on going today! Brady had a bubble bath tonight and wanted to show "all my bubbles!" to Grandma, Papa, Daddy, and Sylvie. Luckily the Papa-razzi was ready with camera in hand. Yay Papa! They created an Abe Lincoln beard and top hat for him. :)
Strawberry Fields Forever
We went strawberry picking today! SO SO SO fun! Obviously Sylvie didn't participate (she was passed back and forth between Grandma, Papa, and me) but she sure was dressed appropriately! Our sweet little Strawberry Shortcake!
The "before shot" going in to the strawberry patch:
We all had a Blast! Brady would pick a strawberry, take a bite, and then put it in the bucket. He just kept repeating that and it was cracking us all up. We'd tell him to give the bitten strawberry to one of us and he'd say, "No! I just havta put it in the bucket!!" It's quite possible that he ate his weight in strawberries today!Brett said it looked like a horror film with lots of fake blood. :p They had recommended that you "Dress small children in red or dark colors. Then you won't need to worry about the inevitable juice stains." I purposefully chose the Burt shirt, b/c #1 it's so darn cute and #2 I wanted to see the evidence of this strawberry-lover's bliss!Bumper Jumper Too
Just like her brother, she Loves this thing! We hung the bumper jumper in Brady's door and she hopped around creating her own fun while the big boy bed construction and trial were going on.
Big Boy Brady's Bed
Brady and Daddy worked on a "special project" (as he likes to say) this morning and changed his crib to a big boy bed. I'm not sure which was more exciting for Brady- working with the tools or the super fun "new" place to sleep! I wanted his first "big boy sleep" to be a nap so that I could monitor what he would do with his new found freedom. He did Great! Part of it may be the novelty of it, but whatever- he Loves his big boy bed! I watched him on the video monitor (STILL loving that thing!) for almost his entire nap. I just kept the video on while I was baking in the kitchen. He woke up very pleasantly. Sylvie and I went in there and it was great to not have to put her down to get him out. He just smiled and slid out of bed.
This picture cracks me up! He could not stop staring and talking about his new sheets and comforter. This was a hand-me-down from Matthew (and his mommy Andrea). Trucks, trains, and planes- all the things little boys dream of!
Update: he also did great for his night sleep. He asked to go to bed. :) When he woke up, he stood at his door and called me. When I got there, he took my hand and said, "Come sleep with me in my big boy bed!"

Remote Control Traffic
We finally gave Brady the super fun remote control train that the Kalbs got him for his 2nd birthday today. He was SO excited for it and we All had a blast playing! I drove the remote control car Grandma and Papa gave Brady last year. This traffic provided some fun entertainment for spectator Sylvie. :)

Takin' A Stand
Sylvie has super strong leg muscles and she loves to stand up. She's been doing this for weeks now and it's pretty remarkable...and this 2 foot tall person is just so darn cute!
Otherwise
May 27: Brady just said, "Close the door Daddy. Otherwise Swiper the Fox coming!" Brett said, "Otherwise?! Did you just say otherwise?!" and Brady repeated himself- "Close the door Daddy! Otherwise Swiper gonna get us!"
A few days later he confirmed that he understood the word when he said, "I turn the fan on for you Mommy. Otherwise it be hot!" cool dude!

Helmet Head
Papa and Grandma had Daddy's old motorcycle helmet in storage at their house. It's now for sale on craigslist. Brady decided to model it for prospective buyers.
